Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim Jalo Jalingo (National Chairman council of Ulama’Jibwis Nigeria) was born in Jacci, a small village 3Km away from Muri. Full name is Ibrahim Ibn Muhammad Ibn Abubakar Ibn Muhammad Gana, known as Jalo. Sheikh Jalo was born in the year 1380 AH/1960 CE, 

Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim Jalo Jalingo was a Kanuri on the side of paternal grandparents and Fulani by his maternal grandmother. His grandparents migrated from Borno to Misau, and later moved to Alkaleri currently in Bauchi state, Malam Muhammad Nata’ala (Sheikh Jalo’s father) and some of his brothers planned to go to Lamido Borno (a village near Jalingo River, popularly known as Kogin Sarki) to join some Kanuri people who were living there. They went through Muri where some of their people advice them to settle, because of the unfavorable settlement of Lamido Borno. They agreed and lived in Muri area, where Jalo’s father married Malama Ruƙayya Abubakar and later Malama Hauwa’u Yunus from a nearby village called Wuro Gari, which is located at Western Muri. Both wives were Fulani by tribe. Finally the father moved to Jalingo with his family, when Sheikh Jalo was between the age of five and seven.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Sheikh Jalo started his elementary Islamic education locally, as it known in Hausa/ Fulani settlement, i.e, starting from learning how to read and write the Al’Qur’an as well as memorizing it and Jurisprudential books. Sheikh Jalo grew up from house which valued education much. He memorized Al’Qur’an while he was 19 years old.

Sheikh Jalo visited Niamey in Niger republic in the year 1988 to secure admission to the Islamic University, Saye. But he was not lucky because he was late. Instead of waiting waiting for the academic session a year after he joined the three-year Diploma programme in Bayero University, Kano that same year. After spending two years in Bayero University he attend Daura course organized by Islamic University, Madinah in 1989 in Kano, and he was qualified to be among among thet people examiners picked up as a result of his excellent performance. As such, he got admission for a degree programme in the Faculty of Shari’ah, Islamic University of Madinah, and he started his degree programme in 1990 and graduated in 1994 with 2:1, which qualified him to secure Masters Degree admission in the same University. He graduated in 1998 with first class. He qualified to start his Ph.D in that University in 1999 and graduated in the year 2004 with first class.

Sheikh Jalo also joined Excellence Language Academy, Sarkuman, Accra- Ghana in 2003 were he spent three months for an English Language course. He also went to University of Witwatersrand Johannesburg, South Africa in the Faculty of Humanities, for a one-year English Language course in 2014.
